About Mogador
Mogador or Essaouira (or Swira) is a Moroccan southwestern coastal town. It is our most beloved Gem, a Hippie haven in the 60s and 70s, and now a world destination for surfers and a cultural and relaxation refuge. It was and still is well-known for its laid-back vibe and its relaxing environment.
Its ancient Fortress and ramparts, which are usually seen romanced by the clear blue Atlantic sea waves and the gentle warm Sahara wind, are reminiscent of its unique diverse rich cultures, its long vibrant history, and its centuries-old tradition of Spice and tea trade.
Once you walk through its narrow white and blue cool mud alleys that mostly lead to the old Medina bazaars, you find yourself in a vibrant colorful souk markets full of the earthy scent of the Thuya wood, the smoky natural fragrant of the artisan leather goods and the enticing smell of freshly caught barbecued fish. Yet, the dominant aromas of the different pungent spices and freshly cut herbs usually fill the air and relax your mind and spirit.
